The Merrow MG-2DNR-1

Say hello to the Merrow MG-2DNR-1, also known as the MicroPurl. Smaller than any other available stitch on the market, the MicroPurl provides an unmatched less-than-one-millimeter (1/32”) overlock design. This stitch size, before only achievable by hand, is subtle in clothing, ideal for lingerie, baby garments, and ultra-delicate medical equipment.

The MicroPurl machine sews at 5500 rpm, using a specially-designed apparatus to roll edges in a miniature overlock hem. The MicroPurl machine, part of Merrow’s Decorative line, has a glossy maroon coating to distinguish it from traditional overlock machines. MicroPurl prevents fraying on delicate fabrics like chiffon, silk, lace, and more. MicroPurl redefines “small” for delicate edging.

A six acre campus in downtown Fall River featuring the renovated 300,000 sq. ft. Mill complex, built in 1871. The Merrow building contains a technology development center, 30,000 sq. ft. of flex retail with commercial kitchens, coworking spaces, the largest soft goods manufacturer in New England, and business Incubator.

Merrow ActiveSeam 2.0: Six Variations of the MB-4DFO-2 Machine

Several publications have recently written about the MB-4DFO-2.5 ActiveSeam for medical compression, a part of the ActiveSeam 2.0 series platform. From performance apparel to medical compression, ActiveSeam improves product performance and leads the industry as the first branded marketable stitch, bringing purpose-built stitching and improved garment construction from the sewing floor to the point of sale.

What is the ActiveSeam 2.0 series platform?

 The ActiveSeam 2.0 series platform is driven by Merrow's MB-4DFO-2 series machines. The MB-4DFO-2 machines accommodate a wide variety of needles and feed eccentrics, including two different needle plates and up to six different needle sizes. There are currently six distinct versions of the MB-4DFO-2 machine, allowing users to work on projects with a multitude of variations, from lightweight to heavyweight material, or from general to specialized applications.

MODEL VARIATIONS

MB-4DFO 2.1 - for lightweight knits

MB-4DFO 2.2 - for midweight knits, including rip-stop nylon, outer layers, lightweight fleece, or upholstery

MB-4DFO 2.3 - for mid to heavy-weight material, specifically footwear, including mesh

MB-4DFO 2.4 - with a wider slim, comfort, and infused stitch for knits or industrial fabrics

MB-4DFO 2.5 - for medical and compression garments

MB-4DFO 2.7 - for high lift/high pile materials

• When compared to a 6-thread flatlock seam with identical thread, fabric, and SPI, Merrow ActiveSeam 2 & 3-thread seams proved to be more than 30% stronger and had the ability to stretch (linear travel) 100% further
• With twice the stretch built into the seam and a flat profile, ActiveSeam garments are extraordinarily comfortable and do not restrict athletic movement
• ActiveSeam 2.0 accommodates a wide variety of needles and feed eccentrics, including two different needle plates and up to six different needle sizes
• The MB-4DFO​-2​ machines have also been shown to increase production speed: "...we just finished a time study and 'Mrs. Betty Blue' [MB-4DFO​-2​] has cut our production time almost in half." - Kate Sauls, Livell Co.

Join Knits and Non-Woven Materials with the Merrow High-Speed Sewing Machine Line -- for Wet and Dry Environments

Merrow's 71-Class machines are designed and built to be the world's most durable sewing solutions for butt seaming, knitting facilities, and any moisture-rich seaming environment. They come in three variations: the 71-1D-2 model, the 71-1D-2 CNP model, and 71-1D-7 CNP model. Both of the CNP models are entirely nickel plated, protecting the machines from corrosion and rust, even in wet or saturated environments.
